As I mentioned in my first Woofstock 2015 article, I am the pet parent of three rescued dogs. At every Woofstock, my first order of business is to see how the rescue groups are faring, and what I can do to help. After visits to all those attending, I moved on to my second reason for dedicated yearly Woofstock sojourns – I’ve been to 11 of 12!
I go to Woofstock to scout out good deals. Who doesn’t love a good deal? Three dogs cost money and my household is on a tight budget. I love the freebies, but have noticed that over the years this has dwindled down quite a bit. There are some vendors that remember the spirit of the early years, and there were still some really good pet care bargains to be had.

I always have my eyes on the latest and greatest dog foods. I happened upon a booth located along the outer circle that had dog food and dog treats. It was a brand I wasn’t familiar with and what really caught my eye was the fact that they had organic food as well. Only the best for my pack, I say.
Castor and Pollux had these amazing wafer like dog treats about the size of quarter called Organix organic dog cookies. They had many flavours that my trio happily taste-tested, with an overwhelming favorites being the All Natural Organic Cheddar Cheese Flavor and the All Natural Organic Chicken Flavor. At their Woofstock booth, all you had to do to receive a 340 gram bag was to make a donation of $2/bag and the proceeds went to Toronto Humane Society (THS) at the end of that day! So I grabbed two bags quickly! They also were donating the proceeds from their dog food bags — they had a 5 lbs bag of Organix Grain-Free for a mere $5.00 — all of which was donated to THS. If I had more money I would have bought the whole lot from them! They were one of the only booth I saw that were so generous in giving back to dog rescues. They were looking out for our animals in need of a good home. This made me happy!

What else could a rescue gal want? Oh don’t ask me that! Because I found the bargoon of the century! The mother load! The trifecta! LOL! I came across one of my favorite vendors. Buddy Belt! I have been wanting a Buddy Belt for my little blind Morkie Austin since day one of Woofstock 11 years ago but I could never afford them. These high quality leather harnesses start at about $40 and rachet up to the $180 range on the their website and even more in supporting stores, depending on the size of your dog. At Woofstock 2015 they were offering a 50% discount! I almost lost my mind. My boy Austin was finally gonna get his Buddy Belt! Heck he was gonna get two! After all he needs one to wear over his winter coats and sweaters too. My boy is a size 3, I paid $25! And I got a size 3.5 for $30!!!
Good to know that the spirit of Woofstock is alive and well. I left Woofstock 2015 with some excellent pet care bargains, retail wishes fulfilled for this year, and tired from all that shopping!
