Danes in Distress is a registered, non-profit charitable group that rescues unwanted, neglected or abused Great Danes and re-homes them into responsible, loving and permanent homes.
Our rescue organization is run by caring, committed volunteers who are knowledgeable with respect to the special needs of the breed and have Danes of their own.
We believe that every Great Dane deserves a chance at a long, happy life in a permanent, loving home with a caring family or individual.
We arrange for all dogs that come through our rescue to be physically examined, spayed or neutered as necessary, vaccinated, microchipped, get medical attention where needed, heartworm tested and assessed for temperament.
Celebrating Adopt a Senior Month
Your Dane is feeling the effects of aging or having problems with mobility:
Ask your vet about a series of 4 Cartrophen shots. I’ve used this on many of my Danes when they get older and it works absolute wonders.
After the 2nd visit, you’ll see a difference. After the last vaccine, your biggest problem may be restraining your Dane from over-exerting itself!!

Vesta Age 6 years
Vesta is a beautiful well trained mature girl. Don’t let her age fool you, she has plenty of love to give and is quite active. Older danes are a pleasure to be around. They are smart, mostly docile and quite sure of themselves. Vesta loves women and is OK with men when introduced properly. She is good with other dogs but no so much with cats. Her current owner has had a lifestyle change and reluctantly must part with her companion. Vesta has been well looked after during her life and will be an excellent addition to the right family.
