6th Annual Dog’s Day of Summer at the St. Catharines Museum and Welland Canals Centre
Pets and their people are once again invited to join in the fun and excitement of the annual Dog’s Day of Summer, to be held on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2015, from 11 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. This is a great outdoor venue, located at Lock 3 of the Welland Canal (1932 Welland Canals Parkway, St. Catharines, ON). While the event will be held rain or shine, some activities will be moved indoors in the event of inclement weather.
This annual event includes rescue organizations, vendors, and exhibitors showcasing a wide variety of toys, fashions, food and fun for you and your dog.
Special guests & activities include a performance by Dave McMahon’s Dog Academy, pet psychic Charlotte Szivak, Lure Courses brought to us by DogLoversDay, a charity BBQ operated by Sweet Surrender, a division of Daval Hospice, and the Itty Bitty Pie Company food truck, a Rescue Parade led by the St. Catharines Town Crier, and a Silent Auction dedicated to pet products and pet-related goods.
Also on site will be several pet rescue groups including Beaver Creek Farm Sanctuary who will participate in the Rescue Parade, designed to tug at your heart-strings and hopefully find forever homes for dogs in need.
Contests, starting at 11:30, include Smallest/Biggest Dog, Wiggliest Tail, Superhero/Sci-fi Costumes, a Howling Contest, and more. Sign up once to be eligible to participate in as many or as few contests as you like.
There will also be a secure and manned Doggy Play Zone where the pups can romp off-leash or just chill out in the wading pools and doggie ball pits.
There is no charge to attend, although some activities may have a nominal fee. Proceeds raised go to the St. Catharines Museum to assist with special exhibits and programming.
