I very much like my farm pet sitting client Beth – she is warm and gregarious and her passion for all pet creatures comes across in every conversation we have. And at the same time, I love it when she goes away! Only because that’s when I get to spend extra time with her menagerie of wonderful pets.
Fam Pet Sitting Plus
From hundreds of pounds big to just a few ounces, her pet family includes fourteen animals and six species. Perhaps one of the most amazing aspects is the fact that they all get along with one another. Not just “get along,” mind you, but actually like to hang out together. The barn cats think nothing of sleeping up close and personal with the horses; I’ve seen pictures of the Rottie who nuzzles the tortoise gently, and the inside cats may think that Flash the fish is just a form of television – look but no channel surfing!
Of course they all take their cue from Beth and her husband Mark, who are their benevolent leaders. Their farm is a haven for every pet here, and likely some that don’t actually live here! Apparently the neighbour’s dog thinks the barn cat food dish is an all-you-can-eat buffet.
Here is our most recent collection of pet portraits from our farm pet sitting adventure this month.
The baby corn snake is the most recent addition to the family – we decided to name his Gimley, Beth said that’d be fine by her.
Can you believe this little fish had not yet been named either? We helped out and called him Flash. Cheddar and Lync are the inside cats.
There are three barn cats, Joey the female, orange Colby and Tiny Girl the seal point long hair cat. They are so friendly they come running as soon as they hear a car drive up.
Horses at the Farm Pet Sitting
So far, each time we have been farm pet sitting for Beth and Mark it’s been because Gracie is off doing a horse show. So we haven’t had the privilege of caring for her before this trip. She’s here on the farm and has a bit of a cold, so we’re sure to make sure she stays warm and takes all her medicines.
And of course our buddy Sawyer is up to tricks, being his gorgeous self.
Even though my chihuahuas are quite intimidated by so much horse flesh and five kitties, they are doing their best to channel their inner “Rose” and be the best tiny dog pet sitters they can be!
