Smiling Blue Skies Walk to End Canine Cancer
The OVC Pet Trust is a fund devoted to providing financial assistance for the advancement of health, health care, and quality of life, for companion animals. Cancer is the most frequent cause of death in dogs. This is a truly frightening thought. In an independent survey conducted by the Golden Retriever Club of America, it was determined that over sixty per cent of Goldens die from cancer. Every dollar donated to The Smiling Blue Skies Cancer Fund supports OVC’s quest to find more and better ways to deal with and understand this terrible disease.

Boston Terrier Rescue Canada hosts the fourth annual Bostoberfest in support of the dogs in our care.
On Sunday September 29th, 2013, Boston terriers and their people will be converging upon SuperDog Central in Bowmanville to celebrate the 5th annual “Bostoberfest” – and this year’s event promises to be bigger and better than ever!
Bostoberfest is an opportunity for families to enjoy a fun-filled day with their dogs while supporting a great cause. Run entirely by volunteers, Boston Terrier Rescue Canada (BTRC) is a registered non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing single breed and mixed Boston terriers from cruelty, abandonment and neglect, as well as helping as family pets that, for a variety of reasons, can no longer be cared for, rehabilitating them, and placing them in new loving homes.
While it’s true that there won’t be hoisting of traditional beers steins at this family-friendly event, attendees can still partake of the merrymaking by trying their paw at a variety of dog games and contests, and enjoying the indoor and outdoor play areas. There will be goody bags, raffle table, nail trims, lunch table, fabulous vendors and more. Rescue volunteers will be on hand to answer questions about their organization and how others can get involved.
Event cost is $10.00 per family and will run rain or shine.
